Samyang Genex is quickly adapting itself to the changes anticipated for the 21st Century. Founded in 1964, Samyang Genex has facilities in Inchon and Ulsan which are mainly focused on the production of starch/starch delivatives. Leading products include dextrose, high fructose corn syrup, starch, corn meal, sorbitol, and oligosacchalides. Most notably, Samyang Genex was the first company in the Korean corn processing industry to establish a research institute.
Thanks to extensive research and development efforts, the institute succeeded in developing modified starch and biodegradable plastic. The institute is currently working on 100 new future-generation products through technological innovation.
Based on vast experience and research achievements, Samyang Genex succeeded in mass production of Genexol, an anti-cancer drug (comparable to Taxol produced by Bristol-Myers in the U.S.). The success provided Samyang Genex the momentum to leap forward into a new dimension of biotechnology.
